Each year, the North Oaks Shock Trauma team and Emergency Department treat
thousands of children who suffer from injuries that could have been
prevented.
Join North Oaks for the 5th Annual Play It Safe event, where our goal is
to continue increasing safety awareness through education, demonstrations
and activities for families with children ages 12 and under.

North Oaks’ mission is to improve lives. Safety education about how
to prevent injuries is just one way we aim to accomplish this –
but we need your help. Please consider partnering with us. Nearly 700
people attended this free event last year, and more than 40 community
partners joined forces for the safety and well-being of our community.
Cate Square Park will be divided in three safety “zones,” and
we ask that our partners provide
interactive safety education, activities and demonstrations relevant to their expertise.
Safety Zones and potential activities include:
Wheels Zone: car seat safety, ATV safety, seat belt demonstrations, Hammond Safe City
bike course, bike helmet giveaway and fittings
Outdoor & Sports Zone: basic sports safety, proper shoe fitting demonstrations, and hunting/
fishing/exploring safety education and activities
Home Zone & Tour Your Favorite Rescue Wheels: home hazards education, food safety, fire safety plus fire truck, police
car/motorcyle and ambulance tours
We are also seeking food and beverage partners for the “Snack Zone”
and additional volunteers for the “Fun Zone,” which includes
activities such as face painting, coloring contest, safety selfies and more.
