Hospice Care at North Oaks Health System

Being diagnosed with an incurable illness can be overwhelming and terrifying. We want you or your loved one to live as fully and comfortably as possible during the last phases of life. Hospice is a special kind of care given in the home that provides support in a sensitive manner for patients with life-limiting illnesses.

Conditions Treated by Hospice

Hospice is designed to be most effective when there is time to develop an open, trusting relationship with the patient and family. Three to six months is ideal. We treat patients with a broad range of conditions and illnesses while providing support and care to them as well as their families.

Our hospice patients’ illnesses may include diagnoses such as:

  • End-stage lung disease
  • End-stage heart disease
  • End-stage kidney disease
  • End-stage liver disease
  • Neurological diseases
  • Cancer

Your Team at North Oaks Hospice:

  • Physicians

Hospice care focuses on you and your loved ones – whether the needs are emotional, physical and spiritual, and emphasizes the importance of quality of life. Most patients receive hospice care in their own homes.

Support & Bereavement Counseling Services for Families

Bereavement counseling and support services are offered to families for one year following the death of their loved one. A special Hospice Memorial Service each spring and a Holiday Remembrance Celebration during the Christmas season bring hospice families and hospice staff together each year.

If you know someone who is coping with a terminal illness and may benefit from hospice care, call North Oaks Hospice at (985) 230-7620 for more information or to schedule a complimentary evaluation with no obligation.
