3D Mammography

What Is a Mammogram?

A mammogram is a safe, low-dose X-ray picture of the breast. There are two kinds of mammography exams—screening and diagnostic. Both require a provider’s order. With our new high-performance, cancer detection technology built on artificial intelligence (AI), our 3D mammography unit is designed to focus on your comfort.

Benefits for women who receive a 3D mammogram paired with Profound AI™:

  • More accurate results
  • Faster diagnosis
  • Improved cancer detection
  • Fewer unnecessary callbacks
  • Fewer false-positives
  • New comfort design

With 3D mammography, you are less likely to experience unnecessary callbacks or further testing. If you are concerned about radiation exposure, our Senographe Pristina™ mammography unit is the only approved 3D unit that delivers the same low dose as 2D without compromising image quality.

It is estimated that one out of eight women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime. The American Medical Association and the American College of Radiology have agreed that at:

  • Age 20, you should start performing breast self-exams each month
  • Age 40+, you should have an annual screening mammogram and a physician examination of your breasts

How are results provided?

Results are provided to your doctor typically within 48 hours of your visit. Studies are read by a board-certified radiologist with North Oaks Imaging Associates, and are available to your doctor in a CD format upon request.
