North Oaks Medical Center Hosting Annual NICU Reunion for Former Patients

[HAMMOND, La.]—The staff of the North Oaks Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has invited former Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patients and their families to attend a holiday reunion on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 9-11 a.m. in the E. Brent Dufreche Conference Center, located within North Oaks Diagnostic Center at 15837 Paul Vega, MD, Drive in Hammond.

Each year, North Oaks staff members volunteer their time to host the complimentary event, which will feature refreshments, holiday activities and an appearance by Santa Claus, who will arrive in by fire truck escorted by Ponchatoula Volunteer Firefighters. Each former patient will have the opportunity to share their Christmas wishes with Santa and have a keepsake professional photograph taken of their visit.

NICUs care for babies born prematurely or with a health condition that specialized intensive care. Patient stays can range in length from a few days to as long as 6 months. North Oaks Medical Center has operated an NICU since 1991.

“A deep bond is formed between our staff members and the babies and their families and, likewise, between the families and our staff,” explains North Oaks Women & Children’s Services Director Kirsten Constantino, RN. “This annual reunion gives us the chance to reconnect and celebrate the children’s developmental milestones from year to year.”

To register to attend the NICU Reunion, please call the North Oaks Special Events Line at (985) 230-2255 [CALL].
