Drs. T. Scott Curry and Matthew C. Lafleur Join North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center

[Hammond, La.]–T. Scott Curry, MD, an orthopaedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in joint realignment and reconstruction, and Matthew C. Lafleur, MD, an orthopaedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in spine surgery, will join North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center effective August 26. New patient appointments for both physicians are now being scheduled at the clinic’s locations in Hammond and Livingston.

North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center is the only multispecialty practice of its kind on the Northshore and in Livingston Parish.

Dr. Curry earned his medical degree at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he also completed his internship and a residency in orthopaedic surgery. He then received fellowship-training in joint arthroplasty through Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

Dr. Curry specializes in total joint replacement and the treatment of arthritis, with particular expertise in knee and hip replacments. His special training allows him to perform minimally invasive hip replacements, resulting in less pain and faster recovery for his patients. In some cases, patients are able to walk the same day as the procedure.

After earning a medical degree at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, Dr. Lafleur carried out both an internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery through Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He went on to complete a spine surgery fellowship through the University of Colorado in Denver.

Dr. Lafleur specializes in the treatment of adult spinal deformities, including severe degenerative arthritis, fractures and untreated or advanced scoliosis. He is specially trained in lumbar fusion surgery that avoids disruption to the back muscles and allows for a better recovery.

North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center in Hammond is located in Suite 100 of the North Oaks Clinic Building at 15813 Paul Vega, MD, Drive. The Livingston clinic is located in Suite 100 of North Oaks-Livingston Parish Medical Complex at 17199 Spring Ranch Road. Clinic hours of operation for both locations are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
