[Hammond, La.]—The
Livingston Parish Children’s Choir Chorale will perform at the North Oaks Medical Center Expansion Community Open
House on Thursday, Nov. 29 from 4:30-5 p.m.
The Chorale will perform Christmas carols before the 5 p.m. ribbon cutting program.
The 28-member chorale is made up of 4th through 12th grade students from Livingston Parish and surrounding areas. Under the
direction of Barbara Walker and Melanie Rushing, the Chorale has received
Superior Ratings in all choir competitions they have entered for the past
13 years. Many Chorale members also audition and are selected for membership
in state, regional and national honor choirs.
The North Oaks Medical Center Community Open House will showcase how the
hospital is taking health care in a new direction with more privacy, the
latest in surgical services technology and expert staff.
Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne will serve as the keynote speaker for the ribbon cutting program. The
Louisiana Air National Guard 236th Combat Communications Squadron, based in Hammond, will serve as Color Guard.
Alexis Marceaux, of NBC’s
The Voice, will perform the National Anthem and Christmas carols, and also sign autographs.
After the ribbon cutting, guests can take guided tours and meet the hospital’s
expert staff.
Other attractions include the jazz stylings of the Reggie Sanders Trio,
a train ride and photos with Santa Claus for children, outdoor snow flurries,
cookies and hot chocolate, health screenings and door prize drawings.
All activities are free, and guests are encouraged to bring a canned good
to benefit local food pantries.
The hospital expansion houses 95 additional private rooms and will take
the hospital to 330 total patient beds. It also features fourteen high-tech
operating suites, eleven additional same day surgery beds, a surgical
intensive care unit and a customized orthopaedic and neurosurgery floor
with a rehabilitation gym.
