Student-athletes from 25 Tangipahoa Parish schools and Southeastern Louisiana
University received free physical examinations at North Oaks Sports Medicine
Physical Day on Saturday, April 20.
North Oaks sponsored the 22nd annual event to help junior high and high school student-athletes fulfill
Louisiana High School Athletic Association requirements and as the official
health care provider of Southeastern Louisiana University Athletics.
More than 100 North Oaks physicians, nurse practitioners, athletic trainers,
employees and Southeastern Louisiana University athletic training education
students volunteered at Physical Day. The event was held at North Oaks
Diagnostic Center and Clinic Building from 7-11 a.m.
Ponchatoula High School Football Coach Hank Tierney comments, “This
was the greatest and best-run Physical Day ever!”
A second Physical Day will be held on May 18 at North Oaks-Livingston Parish
Medical Complex for student athletes who attend participating Livingston
Parish schools.
In addition to Physical Day, North Oaks Sports Medicine cares for student-athletes
on the playing field and beyond by providing education for coaches, athletes
and families; onsite emergency acute care at practices and games; and
rehabilitation to help severely-injured players safely return to the playing field.
