Radiologist J.P. Miller, MD, has been selected as North Oaks Health System’s
Physician of the Year for 2012. The award recognizes exceptional dedication
to people, service, leadership, continuous improvement in patient care
and community involvement.
Each year, the Medical Executive Committees for
North Oaks Medical Centerand
North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital accept Physician of the Year nominations from North Oaks employees, volunteers
and physicians.
Nominations described Dr. Miller as an excellent physician and patient
advocate. He also was commended for his communication skills and leadership
contributions to the medical staff and communities served.
Dr. Miller has practiced at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond since
April 1983. He earned his medical degree at Louisiana State University
School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed an internship at Earl
K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge. Following a residency in Diagnostic
Radiology, he completed a fellowship in Neuroradiology and Imaging, both
at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Miller is certified in
Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology.
He has served in numerous physician leadership roles at North Oaks, most
recently as a member of the Professional Peer Evaluation Committee for
2012 and as Chief of Staff for North Oaks Medical Center in 2011 and 1985.
Past roles also include Chief of the Medical Executive Committee, Chairman
of the Medicine Department, Chairman of Quality Assurance and member of
the Bylaws and Credentials Committee and Medicine Steering Committee.
For the past several years, Dr. Miller also has been actively involved in the
North Oaks Heart Health Services “Change of Heart Expo” community screening event.
