Intensive Care Unit Charge Nurse Travis, RN, Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Intensive Care Unit Charge Nurse Travis, RN, has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award.

Travis joined the North Oaks team in May 2009 as a Nurse Tech and accepted his current position in October 2013. Travis earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University. A Husser native, he now lives in Hammond.

"Travis consistently receives compliments from his patients, coworkers and staff on other nursing units," notes Critical Care Services Director Richelle Smart. "He leads by example."
ICU Nursing Unit Manager Charles Abrams agrees and adds, "Travis has a calm demeanor at all times and has built an excellent rapport with our medical staff."

He enjoys a variety of outdoor and physical activities, including backpacking, kayaking, camping, fishing, hunting and shooting.

“As a Charge Nurse, I am often called to other areas of the hospital to assist in critical care of patients whose conditions have become acute. Using my skills to care for the immediate needs of these patients is very rewarding to me.”– Travis, RN
