Certified Surgical Technologist-First Assist Peggy has received the North
Oaks Health System Employee of the Month Award for February 2016.
“As a surgical technologist, I live by our profession's motto
'Aeger Primo,' which is Latin for 'the patient first,'"
Peggy shares.
Peggy joined North Oaks in 1998 as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
In 2008, she became CST Team Leader and accepted her current position in 2013.
She lives in Livingston with her husband Jack and their children—Madelynn,
17, and Jacob, 15.
Peggy earned a certificate in Surgical Technology from Our Lady of the
Lake College in Baton Rouge in 1995 and her national CST certification
in 1996. She graduated from the Meridian Institute of Surgical Assisting
in Nashville, Tennessee in 2004 and earned national certification in Surgical
First Assisting in 2005.
For the past 10 years, Peggy has served on the Louisiana State Assembly
Board of Directors for the Association of Surgical Technologists in various
roles. In May 2015, she was elected to the National Association of Surgical
Technologists Board of Directors. She also belongs to the Association
of Surgical Assistants.
“Peggy’s primary role is to assist our physicians as the team
leader for ear, nose, throat, neuro and plastic surgeries. She is very
dedicated and skilled—always advocating for her patients. So it
came as no surprise when she recently received her profession’s
highest honor, the Fellow of the Association of Surgical Technologists Award," affirms Terri Lewis, Vice President of Surgical Services.
