At North Oaks Health System our mission is to improve lives, every time
with every touch … whether it is patient, their family or a North
Oaks team member.
Throughout this emergency weather event, we have been working hard to
ensure our community has access to health care services in addition to
supporting staff members who have been personally impacted by flooding.
Physicians and staff members across the health system rallied to make sure
that health care services provided by North Oaks Medical Center and North
Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital were uninterrupted. In addition to adequate
staffing, this included making sure sufficient food and medical supplies
were on hand or could be acquired.
Staffing and roadway issues did force the closure of several services and
outpatient clinics Friday through Monday. However, on Wednesday, August
17, all operations will return to normal business hours and operations
with the following exceptions:
-
North Oaks Walk-In Clinic - Walker, 28050 Walker South Road, Suite L, Walker, will operate modified business
hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through Friday of this week. On Saturday, the clinic
will open normal weekend hours of 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Two Livingston Parish clinic locations will be closed until further notice:
“We are making arrangements to see these patients at an alternate
location and will be reaching out to all patients to let them know what
the contingency plan is to continue their care once it is finalized,”
explains Michele Sutton, Executive Vice President and COO of North Oaks
Health System. “Thanks to our
electronic health record system, our providers are able to offer continuous care to our patients regardless
of the North Oaks location.”
Through use of our website, Facebook page and Public Information Line,
North Oaks has served as a community resource for information about the
availability of North Oaks services, changing weather and road conditions
and tips on recovering from a flood.
We will continue to provide updates as they become available on this website;
on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn at “mynorthoaks”; and via
the North Oaks Public Information Line at (985) 230-INFO [4636].
On a personal note, the storm has left more than 200 North Oaks employees
homeless and/or without transportation. As this news spread throughout
the organization, employees immediately began asking how they could help
their colleagues. In an all-employee email this morning, Sutton proclaimed:
“North Oaks 'blue taggers' are known for their resilience
and empathy when tragedies strike. Our team never ceases to amaze in their
response to the needs of our North Oaks family and our community. Plans
are already in place to identify and provide assistance to our employees
affected by the disaster."
