Clinical Practice Facilitator Laura Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Clinical Practice Facilitator Laura has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award.

"Surgery can be scary. I find that holding my patient's hand as we prepare to begin his or her operation can bring a lot of comfort," Laura shares.

Laura joined North Oaks in 2008 as an Operating Room Circulator and accepted her current position in 2011. As a Clinical Practice Facilitator, Laura is responsible for the orientation of new staff to the OR.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from William Carey College in her native New Orleans and belongs to the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).

Laura lives in Springfield with her daughter Maddie Grace, age 9, and son William, age 12.

Laura aspires to volunteer with Smile Train, an international charity providing corrective surgery for children with cleft lips and palates.

“New and student nurses look up to Laura as a great role model when it comes to advocating for each patient’s health and safety,” notes Terri Lewis, Vice President of Surgical Services.
