North Oaks Sports Medicine and North Oaks Physician Group’s orthopaedic surgeons have selected Mallory Vining of Ponchatoula High School, Hayden Dupuy of Oak Forest Academy in Amite, Callie Roddy of French Settlement High School and Tyler Dawsey of Doyle High School in Livingston as “Student-Athletes of the Month” for April 2016.

Mallory Vining is a 16-year-old sophomore honors student with a 3.9 GPA at Ponchatoula High School. She has been pitcher on the Girls’ Softball team for 2 years. She has a .441 batting average and has pitched 47.67 innings with 25 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.21. She has a .964 fielding percentage.

“Mallory is a great leader on the field,” says Head Softball Coach Hollie Teague. Teague likewise admires the example she sets for her peers when it comes to her honors coursework and involvement in organizations on campus, including the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Interact Club and Student Council.

The daughter of Autumn and Bryce Vining, Mallory also plays softball during the summer on the Patriots GOLD team.

“Callie is an excellent leader on the field,” Head Softball Coach Susan Covington. “She’s a strong-willed young lady who leads her team by encouraging and helping younger players. She wants her teammates to be equally successful, taking time to show them what has worked for her.”

Covington also admires Roddy’s talent. In a recent game against Grant High School in Dry Prong, Louisiana, she was three-for-four at the plate.
