SICU Charge Nurse Whitney Receives Nurse Excellence Award for March 2017

SICU Charge Nurse Whitney has received the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for March 2017.

"I love helping my coworkers as much as I enjoy caring for our patients," Whitney shares.

Whitney joined North Oaks in 2003 as a Medicine Unit Nurse Tech. In 2005, she became a Telemetry Unit Staff Registered Nurse (RN). From 2011-2013, she worked as a Flex-Ability Nurse in many areas, including the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), where she discovered her passion for critical care. In 2013, she followed her passion to become a SICU Staff RN and was promoted to Charge Nurse in 2014.

Whitney earned bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University.

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Whitney lives in Walker with her husband Brian and their children, 9-year-old Peyton and 6-year-old Sawyer.

Whitney loves animals. Her family’s four dogs, gerbil, guinea pig and nine chickens prove it!

“Whitney is action-oriented. She jumps in to help in any situation, and her coworkers respect her as a great teacher and leader," affirms Christy Morgan, Nurse Manager of SICU.
