Medical Office Specialist Laura has received the North Oaks Health System
Employee of the Month Award for February 2018.
Laura joined North Oaks in 2000 as an Admissions Assistant. In 2005, she
transferred to the Walk-In Clinic in Walker as an Insurance Assistant
and became Clinical Supervisor in 2006. In 2009, she started working in
insurance verification for Mammography. She became a Medical Office Specialist
with the Physician Group in Livingston in 2010. Laura also has served
on the health system’s HazMat Team since 2005.
"I want my life to be a blessing to others," shares Laura.
Laura earned accounting and clerical certification through Hammond Area VoTech.
Laura lives in Albany with her husband Roger, and is a lifelong member
of Millville Baptist Church in Ponchatoula. They have three daughters
– McKenzie, 7; Annie, 20; and 25-year-old Kayla.
Taking surprise road trips with her daughters, DIY projects, gardening
and canning are some of Laura’s favorite activities.
“Laura maintains the schedules for nine physicians, and helps with
patient check-in and check-out, as well as timekeeping," affirms
Practice Administrator Justin Evans. "She is an upbeat self-starter,
who is generous in sharing her institutional knowledge with her coworkers.
Her enthusiasm and dedication to improving lives is inspiring.”
