Pathak Joins North Oaks Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Clinic

Physiatrist Rishi Pathak, MD, has joined North Oaks Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Clinic in Hammond.

Pathak comes to North Oaks from Johns Hopkins Hospital at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, where he was educated as a fellow in spinal cord injury medicine. He earned his medical degree from St. Matthews University School of Medicine in the Cayman Islands on Grand Cayman. He then completed an internship in general surgery through Exempla St. Joseph’s in Denver, Colorado and a residency through Wayne State University, located in Detroit Medical Center at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan.

“Loss of the ability to perform tasks of daily living such as eating, bathing, walking, talking, reading and writing is unbelievably devastating at any age, regardless the cause,” Pathak explains. “As a physiatrist, my goal is to help patients regain as much functional ability as possible to perform their activities of daily living and improve their overall quality of life.”

Pathak will practice with Drs. Dong S. Cho and Cynthia A. Willingham, and Nurse Practitioner Vyrl Traylor at North Oaks Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Clinic in Hammond. The providers and staff specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses or injuries affecting movement and work to improve performance without surgery. Their expertise lies in treating brain and spinal cord injuries, stroke, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome and neck and back pain.

The Hammond clinic is located at 2101 Robin Avenue, Suite 14 in Hammond Park Professional Building adjacent to North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital. Hours of operation for both clinics are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.
