Chronic hip and knee pain is one of the most common ailments of advanced
age. Chronic pain doesn’t have to be met with surgery or medication.
Patients deserve an option that’s minimally invasive, effective,
and offers a short recovery.
COOLIEF*
Cooled Radiofrequency (RF) Treatment is now offered at
North Oaks Pain Management Clinic in Hammond.
A patient’s journey to pain relief begins with speaking to a doctor
who can properly assess his or her condition and determine if COOLIEF*
is the right option. This minimally invasive, in-office treatment uses
new technology to safely target the pain-causing nerves. This is also
known as “cooled radiofrequency therapy.”
Dr. Jared M. Rochelle, with North Oaks Pain Management Clinic in Hammond, is a COOLIEF*-trained
physician. Dr. Rochelle explains COOLIEF* provides various potential benefits
such as improved mobility and physical function, quick recovery time and
reduction in pain medicine. Unlike surgery, COOLIEF* involves no incision.
Since this outpatient treatment requires no general anesthesia, patients
should be able to return home shortly after the treatment, which takes
less than an hour.
Patients should begin to feel pain relief within two to four weeks. In
some patients, the relief can be relatively long-lasting. In others, additional
treatments may be required. This procedure has also shown proven results
for patients who may not be candidates for surgery or have had joint replacement,
Dr. Rochelle adds.
