Security Officer Michael has been honored with the North Oaks Health System
Employee of the Month Award for August 2019.
Michael became a North Oaks Security Officer in 2014.
After graduating from Independence High School, Michael joined the U.S.
Marine Corps and served for 4 years.
“I love to protect and serve," Michael shares. "Semper
Fi!”
His approach to life is guided by the words of the late Martin Luther King
Jr., who encouraged others to do their jobs so well that no one could
do it better.
Hammond is home to Michael and his wife Carol with whom he has two adult
children, Michael Jr. and Brandon. The couple belongs to Greater Love
Church of God in Christ in Hammond, where Michael serves as a deacon and
treasurer.
Away from work, Michael prioritizes time with his three grandchildren –
Kasane, 14; DaRico, 6; and Alaya, 3. Traveling and going to New Orleans
Saints football games also are favorite pastimes.
Michael belongs to American Legion Post 474 in Baton Rouge and is a certified
instructor for American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
“Michael treats our patients and guests like family," asserts
Security Director Johnny Poumaroux. "He performs his job with a high
degree of skill, experience, care and compassion. Recently, he was witnessed
helping to feed a patient, which is just one example of how he routinely
goes out of his way to assist when he sees someone in need. Michael’s
enthusiasm for customer service inspires us all.”
