We Are Here For You

Each insurance plan is different and can be complex. We know that it’s important that you know what your expected out-of-pocket costs will be as soon as possible. That’s why North Oaks Health System has specialists who research your coverage, benefits and financial responsibilities for you each time you visit the hospital, and can help get answers to any questions you may have.

For patients who might have difficulty paying out-of-pocket expenses, our financial counselors can:

  • Help set up a convenient payment plan so patients can pay for services over a period of time; and/or
  • Determine if the patient is eligible for Medicaid, and help with the enrollment process; and/or
  • Determine if the patient is eligible for Charity Care. This program is offered to patients who meet specific income guidelines. If approved, additional financial assistance could be provided.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will I ever be denied emergency or Walk-In Services because I’m not able to pay?

A: No. Under no circumstances will anyone be denied care in an emergency or urgent situation based on his or her ability to pay. Be assured that our commitment to help those in need has not changed.

Q: Why are we talking about what I have to pay before I even receive medical services?

A: North Oaks Health System is committed to providing you an exceptional patient experience. Part of our commitment to you is helping you understand your insurance coverage and financial responsibility before care is provided. No one likes to be surprised by unexpected medical bills.

If a patient is facing financial difficulties, it’s helpful to know this as soon as possible. This gives us time to work with the patient to develop a payment plan or explore eligibility for Medicaid or Charity Care. Knowing there is a plan in place can provide patients with peace of mind, and help them focus on what’s most important - their health.

Q: How do I know what I will be expected to pay for medical services?

A: North Oaks will verify your insurance coverage during the pre-registration process, confirm what copayments, deductibles and coinsurance will apply, and share this information with you.

Q: What if I don’t have insurance?

A: A deposit will be required from you at or before check-in. We also are able to set up a payment plan or put you in touch with one of our financial counselors to help determine if you qualify for Medicaid or other coverages. If you qualify, the financial counselors can help you apply for those programs.
