The Honorable
Jay Dardenne, Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana, will deliver the keynote address during
the ribbon cutting program for North Oaks Medical Center’s expansion
on Thursday, Nov. 29 from 5-5:30 p.m. An open house will follow from 5:30-7 p.m.
“I commend the North Oaks Medical Center family for seeing this
vital expansion to fruition,” Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne affirms.
“The people of Hammond and the surrounding communities are fortunate
to have this state-of-the-art facility in their area.”
Dardenne was elected Lieutenant Governor in November 2010 after decades
of prior community and legislative service. In 2011, he received the Legislative
Award from the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation in recognition
of his “dedication to preserving the cultural heritage and historical
resources of Louisiana.”
The North Oaks Medical Center Community Open House will showcase how the
hospital is taking health care in a new direction with more privacy, the
latest in surgical services technology and expert staff. The ribbon cutting
program also will feature the Presentation of Colors by the Louisiana
Air National Guard 236th Combat Communications Squadron based in Hammond
and the National Anthem performed by
Alexis Marceaux, who recently competed on Season 3 of NBC’s
The Voice. Following the ribbon cutting, guests can take guided tours and meet hospital
team members. Free health screenings, refreshments, door prize drawings
and family friendly holiday activities also will be offered.
The hospital expansion houses 95 additional private rooms and will take
the hospital to 330 total patient beds. It also features fourteen high-tech
operating suites, eleven additional same day surgery beds, a surgical
intensive care unit and a customized orthopaedic and neurosurgery floor
complete with a rehabilitation gym.
