Trauma Surgeons
Rosemarie Robledo, DO, and
Lawrence E. Nelson, DO, FACOS, have joined the
North Oaks Medical Center
Shock Trauma Programstaff.
After earning a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at
Arlington, Dr. Robledo obtained a master’s degree from Drexel College
of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She earned her medical degree
from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Stratford.
She also completed both an internship and residency through Rowan University
School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey, and completed
a fellowship in Trauma Critical Care Surgery through Louisiana State University
School of Medicine in New Orleans.
Dr. Nelson completed his bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University
in Evanston, Illinois and master’s studies at Purdue University
in Lafayette, Indiana. He earned his medical degree from the Chicago College
of Osteopathic Medicine in Chicago. Dr. Nelson completed both a residency
and internship through Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming, Michigan. He
also completed a fellowship in Trauma and Critical Care at Grant Medical
Center in Columbus, Ohio, and previously served as Assistant Professor
of Surgery at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He is certified
by the American Osteopathic Board in General Surgery and Critical Care Surgery.

Wesley B. Vanderlan, MD.
The North Oaks Shock Trauma Program offers coordinated care and trauma
surgeons in-house at all times to attend to victims suddenly stricken
by serious traumatic injury. The program serves patients in Region 9,
which includes
Tangipahoa, Livingston, St. Helena, St. Tammany and Washington Parishes.
In addition, the program is part of the
Louisiana Emergency Response Network, an agency of state government created to develop and maintain a statewide
system of care coordination for trauma patients.
North Oaks Medical Center’s Emergency Services Medical Director
Jay Smith, MD, serves as the vice chairman of LERN’s Region 9 Commission, and Dr.
Duchesne also is a member.
North Oaks is voluntarily working toward becoming an
American College of Surgeons-verified Level II Trauma Center. Levels are determined by the American
College of Surgeons based on resources available at a verified trauma
center and the number of patients admitted yearly.
