Charge Nurse Roxanne Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Charge Nurse Roxanne has received the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for October 2016.

"Nursing allows me to comfort and encourage others in their times of need," Roxanne shares.

Roxanne belonged to the Telemetry Unit team as a Staff Registered Nurse from 2012 to 2014. In March 2015, she returned to the hospital in the same position and accepted her promotion to Charge Nurse in 2015.

From an early age, Roxanne knew she wanted to work in the medical field. She shares that her career choice was partly inspired by her mother, who also is a nurse.

After completing pre-nursing coursework through Southeastern Louisiana University, she earned an associate degree in Nursing at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit.

She lives in Ponchatoula with her husband Glyn and their children, 3-year-old Rylee and 5-month-old Levi.

Away from work, Roxanne values family time.

“Patients and staff love Roxanne. She goes above and beyond to address each patient’s needs. She is calm, collected and always smiling. She’s the ‘glue’ that keeps our nursing unit running smoothly,” affirms Jesse R. Donahue, Telemetry Unit Clinical Nurse Manager.
