Critical Care Charge Nurse Anessa Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Critical Care Charge Nurse Anessa has received the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for February 2017.

"Caring for premature infants as they grow, develop and progress to the point where they can go home with their family is rewarding to me," Anessa shares.

Anessa began her 23-year career with North Oaks in 1993 as a Surgery Unit Nurse Tech II. In 1994, she joined Women & Children’s Services as a Staff Registered Nurse (RN) with the Well Baby and Intermediate Care Nurseries. In 2006, she became an NICU Staff RN and was promoted to Charge Nurse in 2016. She also helps mentor new employees as a Preceptor.

Anessa graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and master’s degree in Nursing Education.

For two years, she served on the Southeastern Louisiana University faculty as a Clinical Nursing Instructor.

She lives in Loranger with her husband Ardy, with whom she has two grown daughters, Krista and Chelsea. They belong to St. Helena Catholic Church in Amite.

She values time spent with family and friends and enjoys watching forensic shows.

“Anessa goes above and beyond to help babies born prematurely have excellent outcomes," affirms North Oaks Women & Children's Services Director Kimberly Woods. "As Charge Nurse, she plays an important role in upholding our quality standards ranking us a mong the top 25 percent of NICUs in the nation, according to the Vermont Oxford Network.”
