[HAMMOND, LA]-More than 50 guests recently attended a Memorial Service
hosted by North Oaks Hospice to honor former patients who passed away
this year. The Memorial Service is a component of the North Oaks Hospice
Bereavement Program, which provides support to family members and caregivers
for 1 year following the patient's passing.
Photos of more than 100 patients were displayed, and families and caregivers
enjoyed an uplifting program of speakers, video and music. The name of
each patient was recited as their loved ones were presented with a memory
tile as a keepsake. Fellowship and refreshments followed the program.
Hospice is a special kind of care given in the home that provides support
in a sensitive manner for patients with life-limiting illnesses. The North
Oaks Hospice team of professionals focuses on the emotional, physical
and spiritual needs of the patient and emphasizes the importance of the
patient's quality of life.
"The end of life can be as meaningful and precious as the beginning,"
explains Joyce O'Brian, North Oaks Hospice Director. "The memorial
service is a wonderful way to honor the deceased and share cherished memories."
North Oaks Hospice has ranked in the top 1% of providers in the nation
for patient and family satisfaction for nearly 5 consecutive years, according
to Press Ganey independent surveys.
