The following story was submitted by Rehabilitation Inpatient Operations
Manager Michael.
“On Oct. 2, Physical Therapist Lauren was visiting the Fountain Café
at North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital and was witnessed performing a lifesaving
measure on a visitor. As the visitor passed behind her, she heard him
choking and turned to him to ask if he needed the Heimlich maneuver. When
the visitor nodded “yes,” Lauren began the procedure and successfully
expelled the object. Although she was following her basic instinct to
help those in need as a health care professional, I am pretty certain
she is a hero in the eyes of this visitor.
“Team members like Lauren are the reason why I consider North Oaks
the best health system around. Facility improvements aside, our greatest
resource is our team full of heroes.”
