Histotechnology Supervisor Susie has received the North Oaks Health System
Employee of the Month Award for April 2016.
“Even though our patients may never see me, I stay focused on the
fact that every biopsy slide that passes through my hands represents a
patient anxiously waiting for answers," Susie shares.
Susie joined the North Oaks team in February 2015 as a Histotechnologist
and was promoted to Histotechnology Supervisor in November 2015.
She graduated from the Western School of Health in her native Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, in Histotechnology, which focuses on the detection of tissue
abnormalities and treatment of the diseases causing the abnormalities.
Susie lives in Covington with her husband Kirk, who is Pastor of Bridge
Church there. Their son Zachary is studying rocket science at Mississippi
State University in Starkville.
Away from work, Susie loves snuggling with her three puppies and helping
Kirk run a food pantry as part of his ministry. She also enjoys watching
football and hockey games and is a self-proclaimed “huge”
Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan.
“Susie’s compassion and commitment to technical excellence
have been instrumental in the launch of our in-house
Anatomical Pathology Lab. This new service is a ‘total game changer’ for our patients
because it means their doctors can have their biopsy results in less than
48 hours as opposed to weeks,”affirms Steven Ceulemans, Laboratory Director.
