North Oaks Sports Medicine and
North Oaks Physician Group’s orthopaedic surgeons have selected Mallory Vining of Ponchatoula High School, Hayden Dupuy
of Oak Forest Academy in Amite, Callie Roddy of French Settlement High
School and Tyler Dawsey of Doyle High School in Livingston as “Student-Athletes
of the Month” for April 2016.
Mallory Vining is a 16-year-old sophomore honors student with a 3.9 GPA
at Ponchatoula High School. She has been pitcher on the Girls’ Softball
team for 2 years. She has a .441 batting average and has pitched 47.67
innings with 25 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.21. She has a .964 fielding
percentage.
“Mallory is a great leader on the field,” says Head Softball
Coach Hollie Teague. Teague likewise admires the example she sets for
her peers when it comes to her honors coursework and involvement in organizations
on campus, including the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Interact
Club and Student Council.
The daughter of Autumn and Bryce Vining, Mallory also plays softball during
the summer on the Patriots GOLD team.

Seventeen-year-old Hayden Dupuy is a junior at Oak Forest Academy in Amite
with a 3.5 GPA. In his first year as pitcher on the Oak Forest Baseball
Team, he collaboratively pitched the Yellow Jackets to multiple victories.
He has a 3-1 record with a 0.85 ERA.
“Hayden is an outstanding student and a great athlete,” states
Head Baseball Coach Tony Salim. Dupuy has a pitching record of four wins
and one loss, with a 1.23 ERA and 40 Ks. He helped his team win over two
6A public schools in Mississippi — George County and D’Iberville
high schools — and finished the month with 11 straight shutout innings.
Hayden is the son of Mark and Jennifer Dupuy. He is a member of the Beta
Club and has committed to play collegiate baseball for Northwestern State
University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Callie Roddy, 17, is a junior at French Settlement High School, where she
has served as catcher for the Softball Team since her seventh-grade year.
Roddy has persevered through ACL repairs on both knees, setting an example
for her teammates on overcoming adversity.
The daughter of Candace and Chad Roddy, Callie has a 3.4 GPA and is involved
in many student organizations, including: Beta Club; Future Business Leaders
of America; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; and the Culinary Club.
“Callie is an excellent leader on the field,” Head Softball
Coach Susan Covington. “She’s a strong-willed young lady who
leads her team by encouraging and helping younger players. She wants her
teammates to be equally successful, taking time to show them what has
worked for her.”
Covington also admires Roddy’s talent. In a recent game against Grant
High School in Dry Prong, Louisiana, she was three-for-four at the plate.

Tyler Dawsey is an 18-year-old senior at Doyle High School in Livingston,
where he has a 4.0 GPA. He has played guard on the Doyle High School Boys
Basketball Team for 4 years. He averages 11.6 points, 2.1 assists and
5.2 rebounds per game.
Nominated by Doyle High School Athletic Director Bradley Watts, Tyler also
is a member of the Baseball Team. He belongs to the Beta Club and serves
as President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In addition, Dawsey
worked with churches in Livingston last fall to organize an ‘outreach
night’ every Friday with games and activities for teens.
He is the son of Lance and Dawn Dawsey.

From September 2015 to April 2016,
North Oaks Sports Medicine staff and
North Oaks Physician Group orthopaedic surgeons will choose male and female Student-Athletes of the Month from both Tangipahoa
and Livingston Parishes. Honorees must: have a 3.0 GPA or higher; excel
in athletics; participate in school and community organizations; and respect
coaches, teammates, officials, teachers and their peers. In May 2016,
male and female “Student-Athletes of the Year” will be selected
from all the monthly honorees for both parishes.
Nominations are accepted from coaches, athletic directors, principals and
North Oaks Sports Medicine athletic trainers.
