Jeffrey B. Witty, MD, who has joined

Witty is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in orthopaedic
sports medicine and comes to North Oaks from the Lafayette area, where
he was a practicing physician for three years.
After earning his medical degree from University of Mississippi School
of Medicine in Jackson, he completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery
through Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans.
A fellowship in sports medicine and arthoscopic surgery followed through
Mississippi Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, where
he received training in minimally invasive surgical techniques and in-depth
exposure to procedures and health concerns unique to athletes. Professionally,
he belongs to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Louisiana
Orthopaedic Association.
Over the course of his medical training and professional practice thus
far, Witty has provided athletic coverage for a variety of sports, organizations
and schools, including the Louisiana High School Athletic Association,
Louisiana State University, Southwest Mississippi Community College, Tulane
University, and Vermillion and Acadia Parish High Schools, to name only
a few. He will continue to share his athletic coverage expertise as a
member of North Oaks Health System’s official health care provider
team for Southeastern Louisiana University Athletics.
In describing his approach to patient care, Witty points to the achievement
of two core goals key to a establishing a successful relationship with
those under his care. “The first is clear communication, and the
second is education specific to his or her particular problem so that
he or she can understand what is going on and why a particular treatment
is recommended,” Witty explains. “I find that if these two
goals are achieved, my patients are motivated to get better and play and
active role in their recovery, which leads to better outcomes and happier
patients.”
