WOC Team Leader Deborah has received the North Oaks Health System Nurse
Excellence Award for December 2018.
"I feel called to help others," shares Deborah.
In August 2000, Deborah began working at North Oaks as a Staff Registered
Nurse on the Intermediate Care Unit for a brief stint before joining the
Intensive Care Unit team. In 2001, she became a Flex-Ability Nurse working
in a variety of hospital areas. She then found her calling as a Wound,
Ostomy & Continence Nurse in 2003 and was promoted to Team Leader in 2011.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in Nursing through the University
of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Deborah later obtained certification
as a Wound, Ostomy and Continence nurse through Emory University in Atlanta.
She lives in Loranger where she enjoys organic farming with her husband
Jason and their sons, 13-year-old Jason II and 15-year-old Jesse.
Away from work, Deborah fills her life with adventure – catching
bee swarms, fishing and even skateboarding!
“Deborah’s incredible energy and enthusiasm for her job and
the nursing profession are refreshing and inspiring," affirms Cheryl
Flynn, Patient Services Manager. "She promotes collaboration and
team spirit everywhere she goes, and her concern and true love for delivering
care of the highest standards to our patients is an example to all.”
