Information on breast cancer prevention is everywhere in October –
but ladies, are you following the advice? If you’re 40 years or
older, make a promise to talk with your doctor about an annual mammogram.
A mammogram can find a breast cancer lump earlier, when it’s much
smaller and more easily treatable. According to the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, the average size of a lump found through an annual
mammogram is one-eighth the size of a lump found through occasional self-exams.
To encourage women to cross their mammogram off their “to-do”
list, North Oaks Diagnostic Center and North Oaks-Livingston Parish Medical
Complex in Livingston are offering $80 digital screening mammograms during
Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October. To schedule a screening, call
North Oaks Scheduling between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on weekdays at (985)
	 230-7777 or (225) 686-4899.
The cash price covers exam costs and Radiologist’s reading fees.
Insurance companies will not be charged. Any additional medical procedure
deemed necessary will follow normal billing processes.
