Sports Medicine team and North Oaks Physician Group
orthopaedic surgeons are pleased to announce that Camryn Flanagan of St. Thomas Aquinas Regional
Catholic High School, Joshua Doussan of Ponchatoula High School, and Grace
David and Cheyenne Labruzza of Albany High School have received 2016-17
Student-Athletes of the Year honors.
Recipients were selected from all
Student-Athletes of the Season for both Tangipahoa and Livingston parishes based on the number of votes
received via an online poll conducted May 11-14 at www.northoaks.org.
Flanagan is a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School
in Hammond with a 4.0 GPA and a two-time North Oaks Sports Medicine Student-Athlete
honoree. She was recognized in February 2016 and May 2017. She is pictured

Flanagan belonged to the indoor and outdoor track teams for three years.
This year, she placed eighth in the 200-meter relay at Louisiana State
University (LSU); sixth in the 200-meter relay, 20th in the 55-meter relay and 25th in the long jump at McNeese State University; as well as 25th in the long jump and 40th in the 60-meter relay out of a field of 90 contenders at the LSU Last
Chance Qualifier meet.
Flanagan also played softball for the Lady Falcons for four years and has
signed with the Southeastern Louisiana University Lady Lions softball
team. She is the current state and national leader in stolen bases at
42, has a .489 batting average, has scored 44 runs and has an on-base
percentage of .590.
“Camryn completed over 200 service hours in the local community and
maintained a high GPA, while participating in sports and many other extracurricular
activities,” affirms head softball coach Jamie Flanagan. “She
truly exemplifies what all students should strive to be through hard work,
public service and a positive attitude.”
As a student ambassador, Flanagan represented St. Thomas to prospective
students and their families. She also belonged to the National Honor Society,
Beta Club, Student Council, Light Team and yearbook staff.
She is the daughter of Jamie Flanagan and Jodi Martrain.
Doussan is a Ponchatoula High School graduate with a 3.89 GPA, who was
honored as a Student-Athlete of the Winter Season for 2016-17. Doussan
was a guard and team captain for the Green Waves’ boys basketball
team this year. He averaged 18.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He

Doussan was named to the Class 5A Academic All-State and Tangipahoa Parish
All-Tournament teams. He also was selected to the second team for All-District 6-5A.
“Josh was our team’s community service leader,” comments
coach Tom Taylor. “With a great attitude and exemplary grades of
his own, his teammates counted on him as a mentor and tutor.”
Doussan also belonged to the Key Club and National Honor Society. He is
the son of Winston and Brandi Doussan and plans to walk on to the University
of Louisiana—Lafayette basketball team.
David is an Albany High School graduate with a 3.56 GPA. She was honored
as a Student-Athlete of the Fall Season for the 2016-17 year and has been
a member of the cheerleading squad for four years, serving as captain
this year. She is pictured second from left above with, from left, with

“Grace is a natural born leader and well respected by her team, as
well as the student body,” remarks coach Missy Wild. “Her
work ethic and leadership qualities made her an asset to her team, the
school and the community.”
David was a member of Beta Club and the Student Government Association.
She attends St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, where she belongs to
the youth group and is an altar server. She is the daughter of Mike and
Tracey Doran and plans to major in sports medicine at the University of
Louisiana—Lafayette.
Labruzza is an Albany High School graduate and University of Tennessee
commit with a 4.2 GPA. He is pictured at center above with, from left,

This marks the second time that Labruzza has been honored as a North Oaks
Sports Medicine Student-Athlete of the Year. He first received the award
for the 2015-16 year. He also was named 2016 Student-Athlete of the Fall
and Student-Athlete of the Month in December 2015.
He plays defensive back, running back and receiver. As a defensive back,
he has 23 tackles, with one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. As
a running back, he has 528 rushing yards on 28 carries and five touchdowns.
He has seven receptions for 195 yards and four touchdowns.
“Cheyenne constantly encouraged his teammates to be their best, whether
motivating them to watch game film or reviewing plays to make sure formations
are correct,” shares head football coach and athletic director Blane
Westmoreland. “He also is a pleasant young man with great manners.”
Cheyenne was an active member of: Students Against Drunk Drivers; Family,
Care and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA); and Fellowship of Christian
Athletes (FCA).
He lives with his brother Tracey Parker and his brother’s wife Paula Suerez.
